Students in 1ère, Terminale, S6 and S7 who follow mathematics teaching in the International and European sections attended a conference on Friday, December 22 on mathematical modeling in medicine given by Ms. Chapuisat, teacher-researcher in the mathematics department at the University of Aix-Marseille,.
They discovered the different areas of medicine where mathematics can be very useful, and in particular in the dosage of chemotherapies for the treatment of cancers. The students learnt about experiments carried out in collaboration with the Marseille Cancer Research Center and how mathematical modeling (use of sequences and differential equations) could help improve cancer treatments.
Ms. Chapuisat also presented to the students the different post-baccalaureate study paths in the scientific fields: mathematics, medical (PASS, LASS), engineering, etc.
